Mental Health Resources in Centennial, Colorado

With its beautiful scenery, majestic mountains, and calm weather, there are plenty of reasons why more and more people are choosing to live in stunning Colorado. And while Colorado is home to several large cities and charming small towns, Centennial, Colorado remains a favorite among the many people who call it “home.”

Centennial is one of the most sought-after suburbs in the greater Denver area and is known for its recreational parks, running paths, and waterfront activities. This has made Centennial a very active city and one where many young professionals and growing families want to settle down.

While there are many reasons why so many people choose to live in Centennial, those who live in this city are no strangers to certain challenges, including divorce issues. Much like the rest of the state of Colorado, Centennial experiences higher divorce rates than the national average. Colorado was recently named one of the top ten states in the country for divorce.

Even when divorce is better for both parties, this traumatic life event can have some serious side effects. Couples in Centennial, and throughout the country dealing with the repercussions of divorce need to be prepared to seek professional help either individually or with their spouse following their split. This is because divorce can have a serious impact on an individual’s mental well-being and can even cause physical side effects on the body and the organs.

While common, divorce is not the only issue that is common to residents of this Colorado town. Colorado, more specifically the greater Denver metropolitan area where Centennial is located, also struggles with drug overdose issues, and more people in Colorado are dying from drug overdoses than the national average.

As anyone familiar with drug abuse knows, it can quickly spiral out of control, and can lead to several physical and mental health issues, and not only claim someone’s life but also increase their likelihood of suicide as well.

While drug abuse and divorce are two very serious, yet very different issues, they are both big contributing factors to serious problems such as depression, anxiety, mood swings, and feelings of hopelessness. While these issues are very serious mental health problems, they are issues that can be helped with professional counseling.

Seeking therapy is the first step in making sure these side effects don’t come to fruition—whether you are dealing with a physical concern such as drug addiction or the mental health ramifications that can accompany divorce. This is particularly important when depression is involved. Depression can be completely new and onset by divorce—and it can be the cause for or made worse by drug use. Either way, depression should never be taken lightly, and anyone dealing with depression should be willing and able to ask for help.

Depression is extremely serious and can lead to physical and mental health complications, insomnia, feelings of hopelessness, and even suicide. What is most unfortunate, is that about 30% of depressed people in our world today are not receiving treatment for their depression. It does not have to be this way, as finding a therapist to help with depression and depressive symptoms is easier than most people think.
