Guide to Mental Health Issues and Finding Mental Health Counselors in Fremont, California

True to the general culture of southern California, Fremont is one city that tends to favor certain groups of people with certain lifestyles, while alienating different kinds of groups with different lifestyles. While this is not necessarily noticeable on the surface, there are certain aspects of Fremont that can cause mental health problems for certain individuals. These aspects, while some would see as negligible and not directly contributing to the poor mental health of its citizens, can be very dangerous, creating a “slow burn” effect if not addressed swiftly.

Fremont appears very “perfect” on the surface. The crime rate is low, the neighborhoods are not dangerous, and divorce, homicide, and suicide rates are at the national average or lower. Many of the aspects Fremont that could trouble a person appear shallow and almost negligible compared to the aspects of any other city. However, they should be taken just as seriously. If they are not taken seriously, they can and will affect a person more and more until they develop a serious mental health issue.

This is what is called a “slow burn” effect. It revolves around denial and neglect that there could be a problem with something that you know could be a problem. By the time the thing is addressed, it becomes a much bigger issue than it was earlier. The only way the slow burn can be avoided is by treating the small and “negligible” problem as if it was a major problem. While this does not necessarily dictate spending a significant amount of time, money, or energy, it does mean that something that is believed as negligible should be taken one ounce more seriously than usual.

With, it is now time to explore some aspects of Fremont that could affect mental health, even though they would traditionally not be considered something that warrants seeing a counselor or other kind of mental health specialist.

Massive pressure to succeed

Fremont is close to Silicon Valley, which is home to a culture that revolves around disciplines that require a deep knowledge of mathematics, science, and other kinds of technical information. Even more troubling, the top employers in Fremont are all in some form outsourced from the organizations located in Silicon Valley. Virtually all of the highest paying jobs in the city are going to involve a discipline similar to the disciplines that allow somebody to succeed in Silicon Valley.

Why is this important? This is important because having a high income is absolutely necessary to live somewhat comfortably in Fremont. The average rent rate for a studio apartment that is less than 500 square feet, is a staggering $1800. And this is only for a studio apartment. Be prepared to pay much more if you wish to rent a larger apartment.

Combined with other kinds of expenses, living comfortably in Fremont will easily require an income of well over $40000 per year, which is well above the national average. When compounded with the fact that jobs that pay this high will require advanced skills, the pressure can feel insurmountable at times.

Ours is a culture that preaches that pressure is something to be neglected. This cannot be further from the truth. When somebody is under too much pressure, they can feel paralyzed. This is when it is necessary to see a mental health professional. Even being under the smallest inkling of pressure can lead to serious mental health issues later down the road.

Finding a Therapist

The counselors listed in this directory page are some of the best in the city. If you are struggling with any given mental health issue, even mental issues that are different from the ones that have been discussed in this article, do not hesitate to schedule a session with one of them.
