About Me

Andrew Roberts, MA, LMFT, LMFT received his B.S. of Psychology and Minor of Marriage and Family Studies from Brigham Young University-Idaho. He received his M.A. of Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. Andrew performed his clinical internship working with child victims of sexual abuse, and in a private group practice working with teens, adults, and couples for issues of relapse-prevention, marital and family therapy, and mood disorders.

After completing his schooling, Andrew worked full-time as a clinical therapist at a residential treatment center, working with teens from all over the country that are in treatment for a wide variety of issues, including (but not limited to): oppositional defiance/conduct concerns, mood instability, parent-child interaction, personality disorders (including Borderline Personality Disorder), suicidality and self-harm, substance use, aggression, and so on.

Andrew employs various models of therapy depending upon the particular problem and the appropriate fit for the client. However, most of the treatment methods utilized incorporate a large cognitive-behavioral approach (including DBT skills). Relational therapies (whether couples or families) will also include an emotion-focused component.
