About Me

Chari N. Herron is a mental health professional with 10 years of post-master’s experience working with adults and children in various settings. She attended Columbus State University in Columbus, GA where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 2006, and Alabama A&M University in Normal, AL where she received her Master of Science in Clinical Psychology in 2010.

She is a Licensed Professional Counselor with a strong understanding and skill set to diagnose mental and substance abuse issues, while treating numerous psychological problems and providing preventative strategies to remain well. She is currently a Mental Health Counselor at a local reputable company. In her former role as Access to Care Manager and Adult Mental Health Outpatient Therapist, she performed crisis management intervention services, as well as consultation to other clinicians at the center in crisis situations.

She served as a Community Mental Health Officer, aiding Huntsville City, Madison City, and Madison County law enforcement in their encounters with individuals who were suspected of having mental health and/or substance abuse issues. She developed and facilitated peer-support presentations for fellow clinicians, case managers, nurses, direct support professionals, Huntsville Police Department Resource Officers, and residents at 2 senior living communities on various topics such as Crisis Intervention, Effective Treatment Planning, Signs and Symptoms of Depression, Warning Signs of Suicide, Cultural Diversity, and Quality Assurance and Clinical Documentation.

She served as the Outpatient Mental Health Therapist for the North Alabama District of Federal Probation, conducting initial mental health assessments and individual therapy if deemed appropriate for services, as well as testifying in Federal Court to the fitness of an individual’s cognition. She served as supervisor for student interns, developing and maintaining a comprehensive educational program of learning and hands-on experience. She is passionate about debunking the myths and stigmas of mental health and educating individuals and the community on what mental illness truly is. She also encourages that diagnosis is not the end of life and those receiving proper treatment can live as fulfilled of a life as they would like.
