About Me

Katie is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervision designation (LPCC-S) who is passionate about helping others. She has been providing mental health services to individuals, couples and families since 2005.

She holds a Master of Science of Education in Community Counseling from the University of Dayton and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Education and Biblical Studies from Cedarville University. Katie began her professional career as a Spanish teacher and dance team coach at Hilliard Davidson High School, where she was inspired to become a mental health therapist.

Katie currently provides services to individuals (children, adolescents, and adults), couples and families. She specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of eating disorders (including anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and avoidant-restrictive food intake disorder), anxiety, depression, self-esteem, self-harm behaviors, and related issues. She is also experienced in treating postpartum issues, including the depression, anxiety, OCD, identity, and even weight and body difficulties that can come after having a baby. Other areas of clinical interest for Katie include: the correlation between giftedness and eating disorders; sexual anorexia; the prevalence of eating disorders in the fitness industry; and other disordered eating behaviors, such as “diabulimia” (the misuse of prescribed insulin for the purpose of weight loss), “orthorexia” (a fixation with healthy or righteous eating), “pregorexia” (extreme dieting and exercising while pregnant), “drunkorexia” (restricting food intake in order to reserve those calories for alcohol and binge drinking), and “anorexia athletica” (exercise addiction). Her expertise includes working with adolescents and young adults who are involved in athletics or the performing arts. She is also skilled at coming alongside of parents who are concerned about a child or adolescent who may be having difficulties.

Katie has completed advanced clinical training at some of the most respected treatment facilities in the nation, including the Renfrew Center (Philadelphia, PA), Remuda Ranch (Wickenburg, AZ), Laureate (Tulsa, OK), Veritas Collaborative (Durham, NC) and the Center for Balanced Living, formerly named the Center for Eating Disorders & Psychotherapy (Worthington, OH). Most recently, she has received training in Family-Based Treatment, also called the Maudsley Method, from Dr. James Lock and Dr. Kara Fitzpatrick at Stanford University.
