About Me

Education and Certification:

Ph.D. Clinical Psychology (Syracuse University)
Ph.D. Medical Sciences (University of S. Florida College of Medicine)
Certified Life Coach (Dipl. L.C., Life Coaching Institute)

I’m a clinical psychologist who used to teach and now sees clients. Psychology is my second career. After working as a professor and research scientist in the area of high blood pressure biology, I decided I didn’t want to work with rats anymore, however, I did want to continue my understanding of health and well-being, but from a more psychological perspective. So I retrained in clinical psychology, studying the relationship between personality, stress and health in women. I was able to shape and build a career that gave me a unique perspective, opened the door to new opportunities, and allowed me flexibility and growth. Most important, I am passionate about, and love what I do.

I have had extensive clinical experience in a variety of settings. I’m licensed in RI and have been in private practice in the Providence area for several years. Currently, because of the covid crisis, I’m doing video therapy.

My areas of clinical interest include stress/anxiety management, mental skills training for athletes, and issues related to health and wellness.

I work with individuals to lower
stress/anxiety levels caused by a variety of life stressors. I also work with athletes and performers to decrease their performance anxiety or process the challenges of rehabilitation following injury and/or trauma.

I have published articles and given presentations in the areas of stress, anxiety, athletic performance, high blood pressure, and women's health. I have a therapy dog, Clementine, who is my co-therapist 😊.

As a black belt in Tae Kwon Do, and a student of Zen, balance and mindfulness are an important part of my life. As a triathlete, I have learned how mental discipline can push one beyond what they thought was physically possible. My newest endeavor is learning electric guitar, to challenge my brain and again, push out of my comfort zone.
